Chant's IT
How we work

No surprises, no lock-in, no scripts.

After 29+ years, we've settled into a rhythm that works for Cape Breton businesses. Here's what to expect from the first call through onboarding to ongoing support.

1

The first call — 15 minutes, no sales pitch.

You call the toll-free number (or send a message through the contact form). We schedule a 15-minute call at a time that works for you. On the call, we ask about your business, what's working, what isn't, and what brought you to us.

No sales pitch on the first call. If we don't think we're a fit — because you're too small for managed IT, or too specialized, or already well-served by someone else — we'll tell you and point you in a better direction. That happens more than you'd expect.

If we are a fit, we schedule the walkthrough. That's usually within the same week.

2

The walkthrough — an hour at your business, no charge.

We come to you. Someone from our team spends an hour on-site walking your network: how many computers, what's running on them, where's the server (if there is one), how's the wifi, what's the backup situation, what's the security posture.

You get honest observations on the spot — things that look fine, things that worry us, things that would cost money to fix. No pressure to sign anything.

Within 2-3 business days after the walkthrough, we send a written summary + a quote for whatever tier of engagement makes sense. If you're a fit for managed IT, that's a tier recommendation. If you'd be better served by a one-time security assessment or a project engagement, that's what we quote.

3

Onboarding week — we do the heavy lifting.

If you sign on for managed IT, week one is on us. We deploy monitoring agents to every endpoint, install endpoint security (Bitdefender), configure or verify backup coverage, and inventory everything into our platform so future support calls have context.

You barely notice the work happening. Agents install quietly, users don't get prompted for anything, existing IT tools keep running. If there's anything disruptive that has to happen (firewall reconfiguration, mail migration), we schedule it around your business hours.

By end of week one, every machine is on our monitoring, patched, secured, and backed up. You have a single point of contact for everything IT.

4

Month 1 onward — how ongoing support actually works.

You call the number, or email us, or hit us up on the customer portal. Whichever's fastest for you. Same team every time — no rotating account manager, no first-line/second-line ticket-passing, no reading you a script.

Behind the scenes, our monitoring platform is watching everything 24/7. Most of the time, we catch issues before you notice them — a failing hard drive gets replaced before it crashes, a Windows Update problem gets fixed overnight, a certificate expiration gets renewed a week early.

Every month you get a report: what we did, what we caught, what to think about for next month. Every quarter we review the tier fit — if you're outgrowing what you're on, we tell you. If you're overpaying for what you use, we tell you that too.

And if it's not working out?

Every managed IT tier is month-to-month. No annual contract, no cancellation fee, no penalty for leaving. If we're not earning our keep, you give us a month's notice and we transition your systems to whoever's picking up the work next.

We've never had to be aggressive about retention. Clients stay because it works; the ones who leave usually leave because they've grown large enough to hire in-house IT (which is a fine outcome — we still know each other around town).

Standard included
  • Month-to-month billing — no annual lock-in
  • 30-day cancellation notice period, either direction
  • No termination fees, ever
  • Full data + config export handed off in a departure
  • We stay professional in transition — no scorched earth

Ready for the 15-minute call?

No sales pitch, no obligation, no pressure. If we're not a fit we'll say so.
